La Serva Padrona & The Telephone

About This Production

As part of our 10th Anniversary Season, Clyde Opera Group presents a sparkling double bill of comic opera: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona and Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone.

The Telephone sees a young lover desperate to propose, but unable to compete with the attentions of his girlfriend's mobile phone — a witty, modern take on comic opera from Menotti. La Serva Padrona's title says it all: 'Maid Turned Mistress!' — Pergolesi's charming 18th-century comedy of wit and social upheaval.

Join us for three performances across Scotland — in Bearsden, Edinburgh, and Glasgow — as we bring these two sparkling comic operas to new audiences.
