Clyde Opera Group

Our Story

Founded in 2015 by soprano Roxana Nite and conductor Razvan Luculescu, Clyde Opera Grouphas become a valued part of Glasgow's operatic community.

Our journey began with a memorable production of La Bohème in July 2016 and has since continued with a wide range of much-loved productions, including Rigoletto, Così fan tutte, Die Fledermaus, La Traviata, The Barber of Seville, Rita, Don Giovanni, L'Heure espagnole, and Carmen. Along the way, we have brought together talented singers, musicians, and audiences who share a passion for opera and live performance.

While Glasgow is our home, we are also passionate about sharing opera with communities across Scotland. We regularly perform in towns and smaller communities, bringing the joy of live music to people who may not have easy access to opera or the opportunity to travel to larger venues. We believe that music has the power to connect, inspire, and bring people together, and we are proud to share that experience with audiences wherever we go.

Our Philosophy

Opera is a mesmerising art form, blending music, words, and drama to create an immersive experience that captivates audiences from the overture to the final curtain. The power and intensity of live performances, where emotions unfold in real-time before your eyes, add a deep, emotional connection to this timeless art.

We are committed to making opera accessible to everyone — offering a range of ticket prices, performing across Scotland, and welcoming first-time opera-goers and lifelong enthusiasts alike.

Recognition

In 2022, soprano and co-founder Roxana Nite was awarded the Order of “Cultural Merit” in the rank of Knight by His Excellency Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania — recognising her outstanding contribution to the promotion of Romanian culture and music in the United Kingdom.

Our co-founder and Musical Director Razvan Luculescu holds a Bachelor's Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the National University of Music Bucharest and has conducted orchestras and opera companies across Europe. Official Repetiteur Ancuta Nite is a First Class Honours graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a staff member at both the RCS and the University of St Andrews.

Current Season

This season, we proudly celebrate 10 years of Clyde Opera. To mark this special milestone and our enduring love of opera, we are delighted to bring back La Bohème, one of Puccini's most beloved masterpieces.

As we celebrate Puccini's music, we are also thrilled to introduce the Clyde Opera Children's Chorus, who will join our international cast on stage under the baton of our conductor, Razvan Luculescu.

Performances will take place at Woodside Halls Glasgow on Friday 31st of July, Saturday 1st of August, and Sunday 2nd of August, with all performances beginning at 7pm.

To make opera accessible to everyone, we offer a range of ticket options to suit all budgets, including discounted tickets for a variety of groups. View upcoming productions →
